The Southwest Monsoon or habagat will bring cloudy skies and rain over parts of Luzon and the Visayas on Wednesday, August 2, according to PAGASA.
Meanwhile, the weather bureau is still keeping an eye on Typhoon Khanun, previously known by its local name Falcon.
Falcon was spotted 765 kilometers (km) northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
Based on the latest bulletin, Khanun is packing maximum sustained winds of 175 km per hour (kph) near the center, gustiness of up to 215 kilometers per hour, and moving westward and northwestward at a speed of 10 kilometers kph.
PAGASA noted that Zambales and Bataan will experience monsoon rains due to habagat, and that flooding or landslides may occur in these provinces.
Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Pampanga, Bulacan, and Occidental Mindoro will have occasional rains also due to the Southwest Monsoon with flooding or landslides possibly occurring.
Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR, Cagayan Valley, CALABARZON, the rest of Central Luzon, and the rest of MIMAROPA will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the habagat with possible flash floods or landslides occurring due to moderate to at times heavy rains.
The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon and localized thunderstorms with flash floods or landslides possibly occurring during severe thunderstorms.
On the other hand, the wind speed in Luzon is strong moving in the southwest to west direction while coastal waters will be rough.
Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will be present across the Visayas, along with moderate to coastal waters.
Light to moderate winds with light to moderate coastal seas will blow in a south to southwest direction across Mindanao.
Sunrise will be at 5:40 a.m. while sunset is set at 6:25 p.m.
