The Office of the Ombudsman has ordered the dismissal of embattled Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo from her post.
Guo was found guilty of grave misconduct and has been dismissed from her position. Additionally, she is permanently disqualified from holding any future government roles.
The Senate conducted several committee hearings due to her alleged connection with an illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) that was raided in her jurisdiction in Bamban.
Guo’s nationality and citizenship were questioned due to inconsistencies in her responses during the investigation.
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) previously discovered that Guo's fingerprints were identical to those of a Chinese national named Guo Hua Ping.
Guo has declined to attend multiple Senate hearings, citing mental health issues. Authorities have been unable to enforce a Senate arrest warrant against her.
On July 29, the Office of the Solicitor General filed a quo warranto petition against Guo for unlawfully holding her position and illegally exercising the duties and responsibilities as the mayor of Bamban.
