Senator Sherwin Gatchalian already has information on the biological mother of Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo, noting that she is a Chinese citizen.
In an ambush interview with reporters on Wednesday, Gatchalian said he conducted an investigation.
"Based on my investigation and asking around, atsaka yung mga documents personal analysis baka ito yung biological mother niya," said the senator.
"She's a Chinese citizen based on Bureau of Immigration records," he furthered.
Gatchalian stressed that the Philippines' system only follows the bloodline in identifying nationality.
"In our system, we follow the bloodline, so kung ano yung parents mo yun ang nationality. Legal implication—mga documents na ginamit ang kaniyang birth certificate, for example, passport niya," said Gatchalian.
Guo, in her previous statements to the Senate, said her alleged mother, Amelia Leal, is a Filipino who abandoned her when she was born.
Guo claimed she was a ''love child," as her father had a relationship with her mother, who, according to her, was a housekeeper back then.
Senators from the second hearing on May 22 scrutinized Guo after learning that her PSA birth certificate has lapses that contradict her statements.
During the hearing, two people with the same middle name and surname as Guo appeared. Guo later admits they are allegedly her siblings, citing his father's alleged statement.
Her father, Angelito Guo, and her alleged mother, Amelia, appeared to have no birth certificates based on PSA's records.
The two also have no record of marriage, contrary to what is stated on the mayor's birth certificate.
