The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) on Tuesday, Dec. 5, reminded loanees to pay their loan on time for the full coverage of their benefits.

“[Ang pagbabayad ng utang sa takdang oras] ay mahalagang malaman ng ating mga members dahil may kinalaman ito sa kanilang magiging future benefits at iba pang privileges,” President and General Manager Jose Arnulfo “Wick” Veloso said in an episode of GSIS Ginhawa For All.

Veloso explained the downside of not paying a loan on time, such as the increase in interest and surcharges.

Veloso also underscored the role of employers, particularly in checking the correct amount being deducted from employees’ salaries.

When asked what advice he would give GSIS members who had accumulated arrears, Veloso touted the state pension fund’s MPL Flex program.

The GSIS chief noted that the agency has branched out its alternative payment channels for members who would pay their loans.

Veloso also noted that paying loans on time would ensure members that their future benefits would be secured.
