The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) expounds its affordable housing initiative for government employees on Thursday, Oct. 12, after giving 700 land titles since its announcement.

“Simula ng taon na ito, nakapagbigay na ang GSIS ng 700 titulo sa ating mga kababayan. Ito po ay yung mga na-foreclose na mga property namin—lease with option to buy,” GSIS President and General Manager Jose Arnulfo “Wick” Veloso said in an episode of GSIS Ginhawa For All.

“Yung mga nagkaroon ng pagkakataon na maayos yung kanilang pagkakautang, itong tinatawag nating condonation at na-restructure po, ng lahat po ay naayos na po, ni-release na po natin ang mga titulo. Kaya po tuloy-tuloy po yan,” he added.

Veloso also said that they have 15,000 foreclosed properties that they plan to offer to everyone, even those in the private sector. But the primacy for now is reserved to government employees.

When asked for their plan lest the foreclosed properties get leased, Veloso said they already had a bid for a study in building a property on Fairview.

“Nagpa-bid na kami para magkaroon ng study sapagkat gagawa kami ng mga 5-story [building] diyan na mga residential,” he said.

“Ang instruction ko po sa real estate development management office, ang pabahay na gagawin natin sa government employees tatlong size po: 45, 90, and 180 [square meter, respectively.],” he added.

According to Veloso, the slots for the residential building will be raffled to government employees in every local government unit (LGU).

“Para hindi po masabi na meron pong na-miss out. ‘Yun po ay ira-raffle po sa kanila [...] Sisiguraduhin natin na bago po matapos ang administration ng Pangulong Marcos ay makakatira na po kayo diyan sa bahay na ‘yan,” he said.
