The Gabriela Women's Party, along with the Kilusan ng Manggagawang Kababaihan, Lila Pilipina, and Bahaghari, held a protest along Roxas Blvd. in the United States (US) Embassy on Monday, May 6.

According to RH Boy Gonzales' report, the light rally was made to call for the cancellation of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Balikatan Exercises 2024.

The group insists that the American government will only put the Philippines in chaos, especially in the ongoing conflict with China.

"Bahagi po ito ng indo-pacific strategy ng imperyalistang US. 'Yan po ang tunay na pinagmumulan ng agregasyon ng Tsina sa West Philippine Sea!" Gabriela representative Arlene Brosas reiterated.

Brosas said that activity was just another way to bring more American soldiers to the Philippines, noting that they should be expelled immediately for the country's peace and security.

The Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA) was also called on by the group to be scrapped as it is not helpful and instead focuses on the situation of poor Filipinos.

Right after their rally in the US Embassy., the Grabriela also conducted a rally in Manila City Hall to call for the release of Mayo Uno Six, who were the ones arrested in the protest action on May 1, Labor Day.
