Qualified government workers, whether regular, casual, contractual, appointive or elective, full-time or part-time, will receive their midyear bonus starting May 15 as announced by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM).
In a press release, DBM Secretary Amenah Pangandaman stated the midyear bonus is provided in the agency-specific allocation under the 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA).
“Alam naman po natin na isa ito sa mga inaabangan ng ating mga kapwa kawani ng gobyerno na talagang makakatulong sa kanilang araw-araw na pangangailangan. So, we are reminding all government agencies and offices to ensure the timely release of bonuses to their employees or as stipulated in our existing rules and regulations.” she added.
The midyear bonus, which is equivalent to one month of basic pay, will be given to qualified government workers who are working in the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches, the Constitutional Commissions and other Constitutional Offices, State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), and Government-Owned or -Controlled Corporations (GOCCs), and in local government units (LGUs).
Also included are personnel in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), Philippine Public Safety College, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), Bureau of Corrections (BuCor), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and National Mapping and Resource Information Authority (NMRIA).
DBM noted that government officials must have rendered at least a total or combined four months of service from July 1, 2022, to May 15, 2023, and received at least a satisfactory performance rating.
According to the budget department, the grant of mid-year bonuses for GOCC personnel shall be "determined by their respective governing boards" while those of provinces, cities, municipalities, and barangays "shall be determined by their council."
