Super Typhoon (STY) Goring maintains its strength while continuously moving away from Extreme Northern Luzon and now heading towards Basco, Batanes, the latest monitoring of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Wednesday showed.

PAGASA reiterated that its forecast have showed that Goring will remain in the super typhoon category until it successfully departed from the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Wednesday evening or Thursday morning.

It said that Goring may travel over mainland China by Saturday, and make possible landfall in this country by Sunday.

Meanwhile, Gusty conditions are still expected over areas that are not under any TCWS, especially in coastal and upland or mountainous areas exposed to winds, due to the enhanced southwest monsoon.
