The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) confirmed that Filipino golfer Juvic Pagunsan has qualified for the upcoming Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
Pagunsan booked a ticket to the Olympics after making it to the top 60 in the world rankings released by the International Golf Federation on Tuesday, June 22.
The 43 year old Filipino has won 11 golf tournaments, including the 2021 Mizuno Open of the Japan Golf Tour held last May in Okinawa, Japan.
Including Pagunsan, the Philippines already has 13 athletes who have qualified for the Tokyo Games.
The roster currently includes pole vaulter EJ Obiena, gymnast Carlos Yulo, rower Cris Nievarez, taekwondo jin Kurt Barbosa, skateboarding Margielyn Didal, and shooter Jayson Valdez.
The list also includes weightlifters Hidilyn Diaz, and Elreen Ando
Boxers Eumir Marcial, Irish Magno, Carlo Paalam and Nesthy Petecio have also secured a slot to the Tokyo Olympics, which will open on July 28 and run until August 8.
