Is Asia's King of Talk Boy Abunda coming back to his home network GMA 7?
Social media is abuzz with rumors that Abunda will transfer network after GMA teased the audience with a poster that has a title “Abangan. A Showbiz icon’s Homecoming.”
“Handa na BA ang lahat para sa HOMECOMING ng isang SHOWBIZ Icon? Abangan ang kanyang pagbabalik sa GMA coming soon!” it captioned on a Facebook post on Wednesday night.
Netizens claimed that the capitalized “BA” stands for Boy Abunda.
While some say the word “Abangan” in GMA’s caption meant the iconic line of Abunda on his talk show “The Buzz”.
In early November, the veteran host expressed his desire to go back on Philippine Television.
"Ayoko lang mawala ang kinasanayan ko na trabaho,” he said in an interview, noting that he is not comfortable with digital platforms.
Abunda also admitted that he is being torn on transferring the network.
"Hindi ako nagsisinungaling sa pagsabi kong ‘di ko pa alam. Pero maganda dahil I will make sure I will not burn bridges kung saka-sakali kung matuloy man o hindi. Kung saan man ako, TV5 or [GMA] 7 o kung ano pa mga istasyon. I will make sure na makikipag-usap ako ng matino. I value relationships," he earlier said.
Abunda started his career in a late-night variety talk show “Show and Tell” with Gretchen Baretto on GMA Network.
In 1999, he moved to ABS-CBN where he hosted several talk shows such as “Private Conversations”, “Homeboy,” “Kontrobersyal,” “SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon” and “The Bottomline.”
