The Philippines is set to showcase a blend of youth and experience as its national women’s basketball team prepares for a high-stakes series of international matchups this March.
Headlining the squad is 25-year-old Stefanie Berberabe, who returns after missing last year’s SEA Games due to being ruled a “naturalized” player under eligibility rules.
Joining Berberabe are seasoned veterans and young bloods Afril Bernardino, Kacey Dela Rosa, Sophia Dignadice, and Karl Ann Pingol, alongside rising stars Trina Guytingco, Sarah Heyn, Louna Ozar, Kent Pastrana, Janne Pontejos, Sumayah Sugapong, and Angelica Surada.
The roster combines the continuity of experienced players with the dynamism of emerging talents, giving the team balance as it faces top international competition.
The Philippines will face a challenging slate of opponents, starting with France on March 12 at 3:30 AM, Germany on March 13 at 12:00 AM, Nigeria on March 14 at 9:00 PM, Korea on March 15 at 7:30 PM, and Colombia on March 17 at 9:00 PM.
These games serve as crucial qualifiers, pitting the Filipinos against some of the world’s strongest teams.
Berberabe’s return adds a key scoring and playmaking presence for the squad, while the SEA Games gold medalists on the roster provide championship experience.
With national pride on the line and the spotlight of global competition ahead, the team is expected to enter the court with determination and cohesion, hoping to translate preparation into victories against some of basketball’s elite.
