Gilas Pilipinas Women finished at sixth place in the recent 2023 FIBA Women's Asia Cup held in Sydney, Australia.
The campaign of the Philippine National Women's Basketball team came to an end on Saturday, July 1, with an 80-71 loss at the hands of South Korea.
Afril Bernardino scored 16 while Khate Castillo and Jack Animam both added 12 points to pace the Philippines that trailed behind by 19 points at most.
The Filipinas tried to make a comeback in the fourth quarter and a basket by Bernardino cut the deficit down to three, 71-68.
However, South Korea refused to let go of the lead.
A three point basket by Leeseul Kang and a pair of charities by Danbi Kim brought the lead of South Korea back to nine, 76-68,
Jihyun Park registered 24 points while Danbi finished with 14 points for South Korea that ended the tournament at fifth place.
