Gilas Pilipinas displayed an impressive performance in the final quarter, securing a commanding 75-63 victory over Senegal in a rematch during the 2023 Heyuan WUS International Basketball tournament held in Guangdong, Chinaon Sunday night.
This victory served as sweet revenge for the Filipinos after their previous 72-64 loss to Senegal, giving them a satisfying payback.
Leading the charge was RAY Parks who ignited a crucial 18-3 run in the last quarter, propelling Gilas Pilipinas to a 65-56 lead with 4:37 remaining, overcoming a six-point deficit from the third period.
AJ Edu and Kiefer Ravena played a pivotal role in sealing the win by sinking consecutive three-pointers when Senegal posed a threat, resulting in a 10-point lead with less than two minutes on the clock.
Next on their agenda, Gilas Pilipinas will face Iran once again on Monday, marking the culmination of the week-long, three-team mini pocket tournament.
Following the tournament, Gilas will return home on Tuesday and diligently continue their preparations for the highly anticipated FIBA World Cup.
