Gilas Pilipinas Boys suffered a 98-53 rout at the hands of Puerto Rico on Tuesday, July 2, in the 2024 FIBA U17 World Cup in Turkey.

Joaquin Ludovice scored 13 points and Kurt Velasquez added 10 points to pace the Philippine national boys' basketball team that remains winless in the tournament after three games.

The Philippines ended the first quarter with an eight-point advantage, 24-16, but Puero Rico started the second quarter with a 15-point run to take control of the game, 33-24.

At the end of the third period, the lead of Puerto Rico balooned, 78-34, after the Filipinos only scored 10 points in two quarters.

Jordan Dill finished with 15 points while Vincent Stewart Jr. registered 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Puerto Ricans to grab their first win in the competition.

Gilas Pilipinas Boys will seek to remain in contention for the title when the squad faces the defending champions, United States, on Wednesday, July 3.
