The Municipality of Glan, Sarangani was placed under a state of calamity following the magnitude 6.8 earthquake that jolted Southern Mindanao last Friday, Nov. 17.
According to reports on Tuesday, Nov. 22, Glan, Sarangi Mayor Victor James Yap Sr. confirmed that the Municipal was placed in a state of calamity due to the extensive damages sustained by houses and properties.
Meanwhile, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported that 16,360 individuals or 3,712 families in Sarangani province were affected by the destructive earthquake as of Wednesday, Nov. 22.
The agency also recorded 17 injuries and 13 of these are up for validation.
Nine individuals perished due to the strong quake, but NDRRMC noted that the data will still be verified.
A total of 1,705 houses and 227 infrastructure were damaged.
Three roads in the province remain not passable for motorists.
The provincial government unit and national government agencies have provided P6,846,563 in assistance to the affected families in the form of food and non-food items.

Sarangani Mayor Rogelio Pacquiao has issued an Executive Order No. 72 suspending face-to-face classes at all levels, both public and private schools, in the province until Friday, Nov. 24.
According to Pacquiao, the suspension aims to "pave the way for post-earthquake inspection of infrastructure as a public safety measure."
