Following the issuance of a cease and desist order by the National Authority for Child Care (NACC) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), the management of Gentle Hands, Inc. is now considering filing a temporary restraining order in court.
Located on F Castillo Street, Proj. 4 Cubao, QC, the orphanage has been ordered to halt its operations.
In an interview with DZRH News, Charity Graff, the executive director of Gentle Hands, stated that they will convene with their legal counsel to determine the appropriate course of action.
"Our children are being pulled out and we are hoping that with due compliance, they will lift the cease and desist order and return our children. Because this is a horrific thing to do to our children," she said.
Nevertheless, Graff acknowledged that they have already taken steps to address the deficiencies identified by the DSWD in their facility.
Based on the issued directive by the NACC and DSWD, the orphanage was deemed unfit for habitation due to its failure to comply with the minimum standards for a residential care facility, especially concerning the well-being of children.
Yesterday, the DSWD conducted a rescue operation and transferred 126 out of the 149 children under the care of Gentle Hands, Inc. to three residential care facilities for children supervised by the government.
