PBGen. Nicolas Torre III has been appointed as the new director of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) of the Philippine National Police (PNP), effective today, September 25.

The general order was signed by PNP Chief PGen. Rommel Francisco Marbil.

Torre served as the Regional Director of Police Regional Office 11 (PRO 11) before his appointment as the new Chief of CIDG.

Furthermore, Torre led a major operation conducted at the Kingdom of Jesus Christ Compound in Davao City, resulting in the arrest of religious leader and self-proclaimed 'appointed son of God' Pastor Apollo Quiboloy.

Apart from the Quiboloy case and other investigations at KOJC, the CIDG is looking into the possible connection between police units and illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) in the country.

The CIDG is also investigating Alice Guo's illegal exit from the country and pursuing former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque, who has an arrest order issued by the House quad-committee.

Torre will replace PMaj. Leo Francisco, who has been reassigned to the Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit.

Meanwhile, Marbil appointed Southern Police District Chief PBGen. Leon Victor Rosete as the Acting Director of Police Regional Office 11, which will be vacated by Torre.
