Gabriela Women's party-list Rep. Arlene Brosas on Wednesday urged Senator Robinhood "Robin" Padilla to issue a public apology for his remarks that "reeks misogyny and toxic masculinity that should not be tolerated."

Padilla earlier disclosed that he has been thinking of resigning as a Senator because he cannot be with women.

"Araw-araw po na ginawa na ginawa ng Diyos, wala po akong gustong gawin kung hindi ay mag-resign. Wala po dahil hindi po ako makapag-chicks dito. Totoo po iyan," the Senator said during a press conference at the Kapihan in Manila Bay, where he pushed for the amendment of the economic provision under the 1987 Constitution.

In a statement, Brosas reminded Padilla that his work is to "address gaps in current laws and not womanize."

"Women should be treated like mere objects that men can use in their spare time," she added.

According to the Makabayan lawmaker, Padilla's remarks are "unbecoming of a public official and a violation of the Code of Conduct for Public Officials."

She cited Section 2 of the Republic Act. No. 6713 or An Act Establishing Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees states that "public officials must uphold the public interest over and above personal interest."

"If Senator Padilla is still confused on whether to serve the people or continue womanizing in the Senate, we suggest that he contemplate if he is still fit to work as a public servant," Brosas said.
