An impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte, citing the alleged misuse of confidential funds, was filed on Monday morning, February 2.
The complaint was filed as the Supreme Court’s one-year bar on impeachment cases is set to lapse on February 6, 2026, by members of the Makabayan bloc, along with their allies.
According to a report by Milky Rigonan on DZRH's Damdaming Bayan, House Secretary General Cheloy Garafil personally accept their submission.
The move comes after the Supreme Court (SC) junked the motion for reconsideration on its earlier ruling that declared the previous articles of impeachment transmitted by the House to the Senate "unconstitutional."
The endorsers of the new complaint are expected to include lawmakers from the Makabayan bloc, led by ACT Teachers Party-list Representative Antonio Tinio.
According to Tinio, the central issue remains the alleged betrayal of public trust, particularly the controversial spending of ₱612 million in confidential and intelligence funds allocated to the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and the Department of Education (DepEd) in 2023, when Duterte concurrently headed both offices.
