Former President Rodrigo Duterte nearly threw his microphone at Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV during the hearing of the House quad committee on Wednesday, November 13.
Prior the incident, House Deputy Speaker David Suarez asked the Former President whether he will sign a bank secrecy waiver after Trillanes brought it up during the hearing.
To the surprise of the lawmakers, Duterte answered by asking if he can hit Trillanes in exchange for signing the waiver before the day ends.
"Anong kapalit sir? Sampalin ko siya sa publiko," Duterte said.
Due to the chaos, Suarez motioned to suspend the hearing and, during the break, Duterte grabbed his microphone, seemingly, with the intent to throw it at Trillanes.
Suarez reminded the attendees to observe proper decorum during the hearing.
"We have already stressed from the very beginning that the proper rules and decorum will be implemented regardless of who you are," the congressman stressed.
"We live by a set of rules in this committee. Those set of rules will be followed, those set of rules will be implemented," he added.
Duterte apologized for his actions and admitted that he lost control of his temper.
