The founder of Tau Gamma Phi-Adamson University chapter stepped down from his post amid the death of 24-year-old chemical engineering student John Matthew Salilig due to hazing.
On Tuesday, Salilig's remains were discovered in a vacant lot in Imus, Cavite, a week after he was reported missing on February 18.
A witness earlier said that Salilig was beaten at least 70 times during the initiation rites of Tau Gamma Phi (Triskelion) fraternity in Biñan, Laguna.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Panglima Abdul Wahhab announced his resignation from the fraternity as a way to prove his sympathy to the Salilig family.
Based on the autopsy report conducted by the Cavite Provincial Crime Laboratory, Salilig died from "severe blunt force trauma to the lower extremities."
The autopsy described the body as bloated and in decomposition stage. It also noted that several hematomas — pool of clotted bloods — were seen in Salilig's body expecially on his chest and thighs.
Of the 15 persons of interest, six suspects have been arrested and brought to the Department of Justice (DOJ) for inquest proceedings on Thursday morning, March 2.
