Former Senator and boxing icon Manny Pacquiao is preparing to file multiple complaints against social media personality Norman Mangusin, his legal team confirmed, according to a report by RH Edniel Parrosa.
In a statement to reporters at Camp Crame, Pacquiao said Mangusin, also known as Francis Leo Marcos, has made false claims that he owes the vlogger money. Pacquiao added that Mangusin also insulted his mother, calling her a “bakulaw,” which he described as deeply hurtful.
Pacquiao’s lawyers are reportedly finalizing a cyber libel complaint, which could be formally filed as early as Monday. The former senator emphasized that he intends to pursue legal action even if Mangusin issues a public apology.
“Nagke-claim siya na may utang ako sa kanya eh hindi ko pa naman siya nakikita. Hindi ko siya nami-meet in person. Atsaka ‘yong mga pag-iinsulto niya sa pangalan ko. Pagiinsulto niya sa mama ko, so, pinagaaralan ng abogado ko at ready to file na ‘yong case,” Pacquiao said.
Meanwhile, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) confirmed that Mangusin has been admitted to the city jail and is in good health.
According to BJMP spokesperson Jayrex Bustinera, Mangusin will undergo a five-day quarantine with fewer than ten new inmates before being moved to a regular cell, where he will join approximately 20 other detainees.
Bustinera assured that standard security protocols will be maintained and that the facility is under continuous CCTV monitoring despite its limited size.
“Tinaas naman ang personal sa Parañaque kahit siksikan, maliit lang din na facility iyon. Naka-monitor ang cctv natin sa lahat ng corners ng jail,” Bustinera said.
The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) has also applied to the Paranaque Regional Trial Court 294 to restrict Mangusin’s activities amid ongoing proceedings in his other cases.
