Former Senator Gregorio Honasan II on Wednesday, January 31, urged President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. and former President Rodrigo Duterte to sit down and discuss their issues privately.
Interviewed during DZRH Dos Por Dos, Honasan noted that the two leaders should resolve their rift immediately, otherwise it is the Filipino people who will suffer.
"Hindi ito makabubuti dahil sa nangyayari sa buong mundo, kailangan talaga ang mga lider natin ay mag-usap at magkaisa. Mag-usap ng seryoso. Wala munang media para hindi magkahiyaan. Sila mismo dapat mag-usap. Sila lang ang makakatugon sa problemang ito, wala nang iba," he said.
"Sa pag-mediate, di ko alam kung katanggap-tanggap ako sa dalawa. Yung mag-mediate, desisyon ng dalawang lider ito. Mahalaga na maisagawa sa lalong madaling panahon, imbes na masolusyunan, lumala pa," the former Senator continued.

He reminded Marcos and Duterte that there are other problems to focus on such as unemployment, underemployment, and corruption.
Honasan stressed that the two leaders should not be swayed by their emotions and consider their people always.
Meanwhile, the former Senator shared that he had told the active point group in the Philippine army to never pick sides in the Marcos-Duterte political rift.
"Pinaabot ko sa kanila na sila ang point group, dapat nasa gitna sila. 'Wag silang magpaparamdam na kumikiling sila sa kahit na anong bagay dahil isa lang ang panig dito, yung panig ng sambayanang Pilipino. Pinaabot ko sa mga nasa active service na lagi silang papagitna. Ang tunay na boss natin lahat, lalo na sila, ang sambayanan. Kapakanan nila ang dapat isipin palagi. 'Wag silang ma-distract o mawala sa focus. 'Wag magparamdam ng pagkampi," he said.
The former Senator has recently released a two-minute and 25 seconds clip, calling for a ceasefire in the political feud between the former president and his successor.
"I appeal to our leaders to show propriety in the utmost level of patriotism and statemanship for the sake of our children who always look up to us as examples of political unity. Buong pagpapakumbaba kong hinihimok sina Pangulong Bongbong Marcos at dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na maglaan ng kahit sandaling panahon para sila ay magkasama at magsagawa ng makabuluhang talakayan," Honasan said.
