

Former Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Albert del Rosario passed away at age of 83, the Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) announced on Tuesday, April 18.
"Please pray for the eternal repose of the soul of Ambassador del Rosario who passed away on April 18, 2023, at the age of 83," MAP said in a statement.
The former diplomat's daughter Inge de Rosario has confirmed the latter's death.
"The family of Ambassador Albert Ferreros del Rosario is deeply saddened to announce his passing today, April 18, 2023. He was 83," she said in a statement, adding that they ask for privacy to grieve in private.
Meanwhile, the DFA mourned the passing of its former chief, who is regarded as a "staunch advocate of protecting and advancing national security and welfare of Filipinos both in the Philippines and abroad."
Del Rosario served as the DFA chief during the administration of former president Benigno 'Ninoy' Aquino III.
Prior to his appointment in the foreign affairs department, he was the Philippine Ambassador to the United States for six years.
Del Rosario has been a member of MAP for 45 years. In 2007, he was tapped as the organization's president.
