Valentine’s Day is a celebration of love, and for many in Manila, it’s a tradition to express affection with a beautiful bouquet of flowers. However, with the influx of shoppers looking for the perfect blooms to gift to their loved ones, flower prices at the Dangwa Flower Market have seen a noticeable increase this year, according to RH Boy Gonzales' report.
Roses, the most popular flower for the occasion, remain priced at P200 per stem. However, a bouquet of roses can cost anywhere from P1,500 to P3,500, depending on the design and any added accessories such as stuffed toys or chocolates. Personalized bouquets, specially ordered by customers, can go as high as P1,500 to P5,000, especially with custom designs and decorations.
For those looking for alternative blooms, the prices of sunflowers, stargazers, carnations, and daisies have stayed stable at P150 to P250 per piece. Assorted flower bouquets, which combine different types of blooms, are priced between P1,000 to P2,500, offering more variety at a higher price point.
When it comes to gifts beyond flowers, stuffed toys range from P120 to P750, while chocolate bouquets can be found anywhere from P300 to P1,500. Balloons are also popular, with prices ranging from P50 to P150, making them a charming addition to any floral gift.
Despite the price hikes, the tradition of gifting flowers on Valentine’s Day remains as strong as ever. The market is brimming with eager customers who believe that a bouquet of fresh flowers brings joy, beauty, and love into their relationships.
To accommodate the surge of shoppers, the Manila Police District (MPD) has doubled its security presence at Dangwa Flower Market.
The Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB) and local barangay officials are also working together to manage the flow of traffic and ensure the safety and convenience of everyone shopping in the area.
