Eight individuals drowned after their passenger jeepney was swept away by a flash flood while crossing the river in Barangay Sta. Ines, Tanay Rizal, on December 10.
According to Tanay, Rizal Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officer Chief Norberto Matienzo Jr., seven of the victims were senior citizens who went down to get their social amelioration from the government.
Meanwhile, the other victim was a five-year-old child.
In a police report from the Rizal Provincial Police Office (PPO), fatalities were identified as Teresita Quinto, Maylard Keith Fernandez, Leonida Doroteo, Salvacion, Delgado, Carmen dela Cruz, Esmena Doroteo, Avelino Buera, and Teodora Buera.
Meanwhile, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said that the incident will not be reported as part of the effects of tropical storm Rosal and will instead file an incident report as an effect of the shear line.
The local government unit immediately sent aid to Tanay and promised to assist with the victims' funerals.
