Three fishermen from Bolinao, Pangasinan recovered five sacks of suspected shabu worth over ₱884 million while fishing off the coast on June 5, 2025.

According to Bolinao Police Station, a barangay kagawad from Barangay Balingasay and a municipal councilor from Barangay Luciente 1st immediately reported the discovery to local authorities.

An initial investigation showed that the fishermen found the sacks about 30 nautical miles west of their barangays between 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM. They quickly surrendered the items to the police.

Personnel from the Bolinao Police Station, led by PLTCOL Wilmer L. Pagaduan, responded to the scene along with operatives from various units including PDEA Region 1, PIU Pangasinan, PDEU, PNP DEG SOU1, RIU1, MAPSTA, 1st PMFC, and the Philippine Coast Guard.

Inside the five sacks were vacuum-sealed transparent plastic packs, each wrapped in packaging labeled with Chinese characters and a durian fruit logo. The packs contained a white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu.

Authorities estimated the total weight of the recovered drugs at 130 kilograms.

Following this, the suspected illegal drugs were turned over to PDEA Region 1.

The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to determine the source of the drugs.

"Hinihikayat ang publico na manatiling mapagmatyag at agad mag-ulat sa mga awtoridad ng anumang kahina-hinalang aktibidad," police said.
