The wake of former president Fidel V. Ramos was officially opened at the Heritage Park, Taguig on Thursday, Aug. 4.

In a report by Christian Mano on MBC Network news, the funeral service is exclusive for current and past government officials.

The family of Ramos released a schedule of the visits of government leaders in batches.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos visited Ramos’ wake to pay honor and respect.

“I just came to offer condolences to the family, to the former president’s wife. You also must remember that we are related to FVR, and so it is also a family event. I just reminded Mrs. Ramos of how FVR, when he became president, was a symbol of stability after all the tumultuous events of 1986. When he came into the presidency he brought calm and he brought stability to our country,” Marcos said.

Marcos Jr.'s father, late president Ferdinand Marcos Sr., is Ramos's second cousin.

Former vice president Leni Robredo also visited the wake to express her condolences to the family.

Former senate president Vicente "Tito" Sotto III, House Speaker Martin Romualdez, Senator Bong Revilla, Congresswoman Lani Mercado-Revilla, Executive Secretary Vic Rodriguez, and Special Assistant to the President Antonio Lagdameo Jr. also attended and paid their respect to the former president.

The public viewing will start on Sunday, Aug. 7 from 7 am to 12nn and on Monday, Aug. 8 from 7 am to 4 pm.

The state funeral will be at the Libingan ng mga Bayani on Tuesday, Aug. 9.

According to Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles on Wednesday, the former president will be accorded with full military honors at the state funeral.
