A volunteer firefighter was arrested yesterday in Parañaque for reportedly transporting 3.45 kilos of methamphetamine hydrochloride, often known as shabu, with a street value of P 23.46 million.

According to Southern Police District head Brig. Gen. Kirby John Kraft, Jonnie Romo, 41, was apprehended by anti-narcotics agents in a sting in Barangay San Dionisio at around 2:50 a.m.

Romo took P140,000 in marked money from an undercover cop in exchange for an undefined amount of shabu, according to Kraft.

The illegal substances were packaged in eight plastic sachets and two Guar Yun Wang tea bags.

Meanwhile, the suspect is being jailed on narcotics trafficking accusations.
