Three individuals were rescued after their speedboat caught fire in the vicinity waters off Zamboanga City Pier on Thursday afternoon, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said Friday.
Based on the incident report, the PCG said they responded to the first incident involving the "Fadi Laminusa Express" speedboat in the vicinity waters off Zamboanga City at around 2:03 PM on August 17.
The three crew members sustained first-degree burns and were provided immediate medical care by the Coast Guard Medical Clinic-Southwestern Mindanao.
According to PCG, the speedboat departed from Tres Marias, Baliwasan Seaside in the same city for a sea trial when the crew noticed a fire between the fuel tank and battery around 2 PM.
Responders declared fire out at 3:30 PM.
The speedboat eventually sank 300 meters south of Barangay Mariki.
