A bulalo house located on the ground floor of a five-story condominium along Primo Rivera, Mola Street, La Paz, Makati City was razed by fire at around 1:34 AM early Thursday morning.
According a report by Jecelle Ricafort, the blaze was raised to the first alarm before it was finally declared under control at 2:21 AM by the Makati Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
The Makati BFP reported that the estimated damage to property reached ₱1.6 million, with the initial cause suspected to be a faulty electrical line inside the eatery’s stockroom.
Residents from the upper floors of the building were immediately evacuated, and no injuries were reported. However, a family of eight members panicked during the incident and fled to the rooftop, where they waited for rescue.
Firefighters were able to bring them down safely. They are now in stable condition, and none of the 35 rooms on the other floors were affected by the fire.
At the time of the incident, no staff members were present at the Bulalo House as they were reportedly attending their employer’s birthday celebration in Quezon City.
A Makati BFP investigator, who declined to be named, shared that although this is the first reported fire at the establishment, a gas tank explosion had already occurred at the same eatery three months ago.
