The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Sunday reported that a passenger-cargo steamer caught fire on the coast of Panglao in Bohol province.

According to the PCG, the MV Esperanza Star, owned by Kho Shipping Lines, caught fire around daybreak. It carried 65 passengers and 55 crew members.

The Coast Guard troops performed firefighting and rescue operations.

The PCG shared images of the ship with flames and smoke rising.

It said that the MV Esperanza Star sailed from Port of Lazi in Siquijor and Port of Tagbilaran in Bohol.

A fire out was declared at around 10 AM.
