Department of Finance Undersecretary Cielo Magno confirmed on Thursday that she has stepped down from her post.
In a message to reporters, Magno said her resignation will take effect on September 16.
"I was grateful for the opportunity to serve the Filipino people, but I think the academe will give me the flexibility I need to advocate for good policies," the undersecretary said in her message.
Magno, who did not disclose the reason behind her sudden resignation, said she will be returning as an academe at the University of the Philippines School of Economics (UPSE).
Prior to this, Magno shared on her Facebook a graph that depicts the law of supply and demand along with the caption: "I miss teaching" and a teacher emoji.
