The Philippine Embassy in Lebanon strongly urged that all Filipino citizens depart the country of Lebanon immediately while the airport remains operational.

In an advisory posted on Friday, August 16, the embassy called for its citizens’ immediate evacuation as tensions between Lebanon-based Hezbollah and Israel continue.

“We advise all Filipino nationals to prioritize their safety and depart the country as soon as possible. If you are unable to leave Lebanon, we strongly recommend that you evacuate to safer areas outside of Beirut, South Lebanon, and the Bekaa Valley,” its statement read.

Additionally, the embassy provided the following contact information for further assistance:

  • For all OFWs (documented or undocumented): +961 79110729
  • For OFs (Dependents with Permanent Resident Status, i.e., wife iqama): +961 70858086

“The safety and security of every Filipino citizen is our top priority. We urge you to act swiftly and follow the above instructions to ensure your safety,” the embassy said.

Tensions between Hezbollah and Israel have risen in the past weeks, inflicting more heavy damage to both countries. Fears of a major escalation were triggered after the Israeli strike in Beirut last month, which led to the death of a few officials.

Hezbollah and Israel have been at war before, with the last one being in 2006.
