MANILA – The Philippine Embassy in Morocco reports that there are no Filipinos affected by the 6.8 magnitude earthquake that rocked the country Friday evening.

In a message to DZRH by Philippine Ambassador to Morocco Leslie Baja, the Philippine envoy confirms that the Embassy has not received any reports of Filipinos affected by the quake.

“As of the moment, the Embassy has received no reports of any Filipino being affected by the earthquake,” the latest advisory sent by Amb. Baja said.

Baja added that the Embassy is in touch with leaders and coordinators in various areas of Morocco to ensure the safety of Filipinos living in the country.

Baja also confirms that they have not received any request for repatriation from Filipinos living and working in Morocco.

Earlier, DFA Secretary Enrique A. Manalo posted on X (former Twitter), the Philippines’ message of solidarity with Morocco, saying “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims of this tragedy.”

In the same advisory, the Moroccan Interior Ministry reports that as of Monday, the death toll has reached 2,497 caused by the strong tremors while 2,476 were reported injured.
