A Filipino college teacher was nabbed at the Raleigh-Durham International Airport in North Carolina on the weekend due to child pornography charges.
The suspect, identified as Jestoni Jumaquio Pestaño, was about to board a flight to Japan when Homeland Security agents arrested him.
The airport police reportedly brought him to the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office where he was charged with Felony Second Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor.
Pestaño is now in the custody of Halifax County Detention Center with no recommended bail due to potential flight risk.
On February 15, the detectives from Halifax County Sheriff’s Office’s Criminal Investigations Division reported the information to Halifax County through an Instagram user from the Philippines, which led the authorities to investigate the situation and detect the IP local address from the shared media.
Throughout the investigation, Pestaño was held responsible for the crime, and there have been multiple search warrant orders sent to the school where he was working as well as his residence.
Meanwhile, the investigation is still going, and additional cases might be filed against the suspect.
