The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) on Thursday, Nov. 9, reported that 9 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from Lebanon have safely arrived in the country.
In a statement posted on its official Facebook page, the agency said the 9 OFWs touched down at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 (NAIA-3) via Qatar Airways flight QR928 on Wednesday evening, Nov. 8.
The domestic workers were assisted by DMW officer-in-charge Hans Leo Cacdac who DMW said gave them assurance of the government's "necessary assistance and other forms of support."
According to the agency, there are now "a total of 19 OFWs who have come back to the Philippines from Lebanon."
On Nov. 3, the first batch of Filipino repatriates, composed of six OFWs, arrived in the country from Lebanon.
In October, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) raised Alert Level 3 in Lebanon or voluntary repatriation due to increasing tensions and security situation in Southern Lebanon.
In an earlier interview with DZRH, DFA Usec. Eduardo Jose de Vega advised OFWs based in Lebanon to seek the voluntary repatriation program before a war broke out.
