Filipino designs dominated the Miss Universe 2022 preliminary pageant with their creative gown creations.
Some of the candidates walked on stage showcasing gowns from Filipino designers including Oliver Tolentino, Rian Fernandez, and Carl Andrada.
These beauty queens flaunted evening gowns confidently on the stage during the pageant's preliminary competition on Wednesday, Jan 12, at New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.
Here are the nine beauty queens:
Miss Universe Philippines
The Philippine's bet Celeste Cortesi looked glowing and ethereal wearing her Oliver Tolentino sky-blue gown — a tribute to her father who named her 'Celeste' which means 'heavenly and sky blue' in Italian.
This was made of French lace, Thai silk, and thousands of crystals.
Miss Universe USA
Filipino-American R'Bonney Gabriel wore her sophisticated viva magenta trumpet gown designed by Rian Fernandez.
Fernandez explained that the color symbolizes universal harmony and character empowering fearless beauty queens.
Miss Universe Bahrain
Evlin Khalifa delighted everyone with her all-crystal gown while embodying Bahrain's conservative culture.
The gown was crafted by Dubai-based designer Furne One Amato.
Miss Universe Cambodia
Miss Cambodia Manita Hang also wore a Rian Fernandez gown in a suit and a beaded sheer flair skirt.
She used purple and blue as it represents 'royalty and serenity'.
Fernandez explained the patterns as 'intertwined branches of the historical banyan tree swirling in different directions as it will untangle the long-waited hunger for the crown'.
Miss Universe Seychelles
Gabriella Gonthier looked dazzling wearing a beaded champagne dress with asymmetrical embellishments designed by Los Angeles-based Pinoy designer Carl Andrada.
Miss Universe Mauritius
The gown flaunted by Miss Mauritius Alexandrine Belle-Etoile was also designed by Carl Andrada.
She was wearing a body-hugging lavender-columned dress.
Miss Universe Spain
Spain's Alicia Faubel was elegant and celestial wearing a shining nude off-shoulder mermaid gown designed by Leo Almodal.
The beauty queen previously revealed that she stayed in the Philippines for three years to work as a model. She can also speak Filipino.
Miss Universe Malta
Maxine Formosa Gruppetta of Malta donned the stage with her bright yellow dress designed by Laguna-based fashion designer Louis Pangilinan.
Pangilinan explained the meaning behind his design as it symbolizes 'women’s passion and desire that beckons from afar that simply reveals a modern transformational woman'.
Miss Universe Great Britain
Great Britain's Noky Simbani looked like a real-life barbie as she flaunted a magenta crystal-embellished halter gown also designed by Louis Pangilinan.
