Filipino film 'Blue Room' bags award at LA Femme film festival

The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) announced Tuesday, Oct. 24, that “Blue Room” bagged the Best Foreign Film award at the 19th LA Femme International Film Festival (LFIFF), marking the first Filipino film to win at the prestigious festival.

Directed by Ma-an Asuncion-Dagñalan, “Blue Room” follows an indie rock band of woke teenagers who get arrested for drug possession. They are brought into a detention area where they decide whether to abide by their privilege or fight for what they believe in.

The film stars Elijah Canlas, juan karlos, Harvey Bautistas, Nourijune, and Keoni Jin.

“Blue Room” earlier won 5 awards at the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival 2022.

LFIFF is an annual film festival that displays films written, directed, and produced by women to back female filmmakers’ respective films to reach local and international audiences.
