Four naval ships of the Philippines, the United States, and France started to sail on Thursday, April 25, from Puerto Princesa, Palawan to the site for the Balikatan multilateral maritime exercises in the West Philippine Sea

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Western Command identified the ships as BRP Ramon Alcaraz, BRP Davao Del Sur, USS Harpers Ferry, and FS Vendemiaire.

AFP said that the ships will 'engage in a series of dynamic exercises aimed at bolstering maritime capabilities for the next five days'.

At least 16,000 Filipino, and American troops participates in the 2024 Balikatan exercises, which started on April 22, and will run until May 10.
