

Kheith Rhynne Cruz won two gold medals for the Philippines in the 2023 Southeast Asian Youth Table Tennis championships held in Brunei.
The 16-year old Filipina ruled the girls' under-17 singles category after defeating Wirakarn Tayapitak of Thailand, 1-7, 11-4, 8-11, 11-4, 7-11, 11-3, on Sunday, June 18.
On Saturday, June 17, Cruz joined Chrishien Mae Santillan in bringing home the gold medal in the girls' under-19 doubles category after beating the Thai pair of Wirakarn, and Wanwisa Aueawiriyayothin, 11-2, 11-9, 11-7.
"This momentous achivement not only etches a golden chapter in Philippine table tennis history but also propels our nation to new heights on the global stage," Philippine Table Tennis president Ting Ledesma said in a statement.
Aside from the two gold medals, the Philippine team also snagged a silver and three bronze medals in the competition.
