FDA to allow Pfizer COVID-19 jab for ages 12-15 years old
by Christhel Cuazon28 May 2021

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is eyeing to recommend that 12 to 15-year-olds be allowed to receive COVID-19 vaccine from American firm Pfizer-BioNtech.

"Within the week, we will be issuing an amendment to the emergency use authorization of Pfizer and we will be able to use it in children 12 to 15 years old," FDA Director-General Eric Domingo announced during a meeting with President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday night.

He added that the US FDA already approved this amendment and has started using vaccines for the age group.

The Philippines earlier received an initial 193,050 doses of Pfizer-BioNtech’s COVID-19 vaccine, courtesy of the COVAX Facility, an initiative by the World Health Organization, the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations, and GAVI.
