A father and his pregnant daughter were shot dead by their neighbor in Purok 12, Barangay Cadulawan Minglanilla, Cebu, on Thursday, August 10.
According to Police Capt. Kalvin Golitod, Officer-in-Charge of the Minglanilla Police Station, the victims were identified as Alfredo Herbias and Marjorie Caparida.
The investigation found that the neighbors and victims had previously argued over their shared land.
"Dahil sa awayan sa lupa, sa boundary," Golitod said.
The tension escalated when the victims accused the suspect of chopping down a coconut tree within their vicinity.
"Nag-udyok ito sa kanya na gawin ang krimen," added Golitod.
Another daughter, Florijen Bastatas, was also shot and has been getting medical treatment at the hospital.
The suspect, who will be convicted of two counts of murder as well as frustrated murder, was immediately taken into police custody.
Authorities said that they will also investigate why the suspect had a firearm in his possession.
