Get to know these rising GL stars!
The rising girl love (GL) stars in Thailand, Freen Sarocha and Becky Armstrong, visited the Philippines on Sunday for their "The Debutante: A Watch Party for the Uncut Last Episode of GAP The Series."
In an exclusive interview with MBC Network News' Showbiz Angel right after the media conference held at the Novotel Manila in Araneta, Cubao, the stars shared their feelings about the massive support they received from their fans, not only in Thailand but also internationally, especially in the Philippines.
"I didn't expect that this series would be such a success." "I would like to thank everyone who supported us," Freen said through an interpreter.
She expressed her gratitude to the people behind the scenes for working hard to obtain a positive result from the audience.
"Never did I ever imagine that anyone outside Thailand would know Freen and Becky," Becky said, giving full credit not only to themselves but also to the whole team.
"We're so glad now that it's a success and that everyone loves it. So we have to thank you guys for supporting it," she added.
When asked about the fandom name, which the Freen-Becky stans have been waiting for, both answered that they haven't thought about it yet.
Freen said, "I hope that we will just work on being Freen and Becky, and we will think about it later on."
"We haven't thought of any names, but maybe in the future or you guys can suggest them to us," Becky added, saying that for the meantime, the two would stick to FreenBecky.
Things they loved the most on their GL series
When asked about the thing they love the most about working on their GL series, Freen stated that she personally loves the character of Khun Sam and studied a lot about it, explaining that she loved the way she portrayed the role to show the viewers that she is in-character, which is far from being Freen.
Becky, on the other hand, enjoyed her character as Mon, and she revealed that she worked hard to understand the character from a different perspective.
She also said that she loved to explore the different emotions of Mon, which she thought was a great opportunity to show the range of her acting skills since it was her first main role.
"I think it's a good chance to be able to learn and develop my acting skills as well," she further explained.
FreenBecky on society's acceptance of GL series
Moreover, the GL stars explained that they were glad that society is slowly changing, particularly in terms of love for any kind of gender and respect for each other.
"Society changes every day, and I'm glad that it's changing in this way that more people are accepting. even like older people who may not have accepted it in the past," Becky explained.
"It's showing that society is changing and there is an impact. But obviously, by law, we still need to make sure that happens, but love is just love. "I think it's just about being whoever you love and being able to express how you feel," she ended.
Working on a new project together
Talking about working on a new project, the "GAP the Series" stars said that it is okay to work with each other again, but they don't limit themselves to the GL series and with Becky only.
They are both open to working with other actors and growing individually as well, which means that they are open to any genre and any role.
Becky may want to try an action series, while Freen wants to go with a historical genre.
The Thai actresses shared that they want the viewers to remember Khun Sam's fighting spirit when it comes to love, as well as the obstacles that the two characters faced before being together and marrying each other.
Places to visit again in the Philippines
As they were asked about the places they wanted to visit again in the country, the two excitedly said they wanted to try going to the amusement park and try the other rides.
With Becky's video showing that she put the Filipino snack "Mang Juan" in her pocket, she described the chips as "salty but yummy." That's why, when she was asked by her fans in some of her Instagram Lives, she always mentioned the snack as her favorite Pinoy food.
Freen's 'look-a-like'
Moreover, Freen gave an honest reaction to the fans, saying that she and Filipina actress Charlie Dizon are "look-alikes."
She accepted the fact that they "kind of look alike, but she is beautiful."
Before the exclusive interview ended, the two showcased a short sample of their talent: Becky sang "Paano" by Zack Tabudlo, while Freen sang a few lines of her favorite BLACKPINK song, "Love Sick Girls."
Meanwhile, Freen and Becky came to Manila for "The Debutante: A Watch Party for the Uncut Last Episode of GAP The Series," held at SM Skydome.
