“Take care. We will be alright. Your dad will be alright.”
Former Executive Secretary Salvador “Bingbong” Medialdea made this assurance to former President Rodrigo Duterte’s family after they were reportedly forced to board a plane bound for The Hague, Netherlands.
Addressing Duterte’s common-law partner, Honeylet Avanceña, and daughter, Veronica “Kitty” Duterte, Medialdea said in an exclusive interview on DZRH News: “Huwag kayo mag-alala. Hindi natin iiwan si PRRD.”
Medialdea also mentioned that he had already spoken with his wife and was awaiting takeoff at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
“Wala tayong magagawa. Pinagbuhat nga siya. Ako pinosasan. Hindi naman ako kriminal, pero sige lang. Tanggap namin iyan,” the former Executive Secretary said.
Duterte was arrested upon arrival at NAIA Terminal 3 on Tuesday morning over an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC).
As of this writing, the plane carrying Duterte and Medialdea was still on the airport tarmac.
