Former Tiaong, Quezon Mayor Ramon Preza appeared before the Ombudsman on Monday for the clarificatory hearing of the cases filed against him.

Preza has been charged with the violation of Republic Act 3019, also known as the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, and Republic Act 6713, also known as the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.

The charges were filed by the incumbent Tiaong Municipal Vice Mayor Roderick Umali.

Umali accused Preza of allegedly using his influence and power to reclassify R.A. Preza Realty and Development Corporation, a three-hectare land owned by the former mayor.

The vice mayor likewise accused the former mayor of allegedly using his power to give a business permit and operation to Ramonica Foods Corporation, the biggest branch of a famous food chain where Preza is the major stockholder, chairman of the board, and president.

Based on Umali's complaint, he said it was clear that there was bias and conflict of interest.

Preza, meanwhile. refused to give a statement on the matter.
