Former Ilocos Sur Governor Luis “Chavit” Singson will be allowed to testify before the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee regarding alleged irregularities in flood control projects.
Senate Blue Ribbon Committee Chairman Panfilo “Ping” Lacson announced that a hearing is tentatively scheduled for April 14, where Singson is expected to provide his testimony on the alleged widespread corruption.
“He indicated that he wanted to testify. So I said, yes, if you are testifying on the flood control projects, then we will schedule a hearing,” Lacson said.
However, Lacson noted that it would be preferable to hold the hearing sooner, as the Senate is scheduled to take a break starting March 20 or 21.
Furthermore, the senator emphasized that whether or not an affidavit is submitted, what matters is that Singson’s testimony is pertinent to the Blue Ribbon Committee’s ongoing investigation regarding the controversial flood control scam.
