Former (G) I-DLE member Soojin is reportedly preparing for her official solo debut soon, marking her return to the K-pop scene after almost three years, according to media reports on October 16.
Soojin signed with a new label and opened her personal social networking site (SNS) in July, which she is using to provide updates and her way of communicating with her fans.
In 2021, Soojin was involved in school violence allegations after a netizen who claimed to be her schoolmate posted her bullying acts on an online community.
Following that, more claims supported the allegations against the former girl group members until actress Seo Shin-ae, who attended the same school as her, revealed that she was also a victim of school violence committed by Soojin.
The controversy led Soojin’s former entertainment agency, Cube Entertainment, to terminate her contract and have her departure from the group (G)I-DLE.
In her defense, Soojin filed a case against the accusers for defamation; however, the police closed the case due to a lack of evidence.
Through her legal representative, the former (G)I-DLE member explained that she was more interested in singing and dancing back in her middle school years and admitted that she lacked dedication to her academics.
She only acknowledged the emotional pain that those who came forward with accusations felt and expressed regret for giving her fans disappointment.
Meanwhile, her solo career debut drew mixed reactions from the Korean netizens after the bullying accusations she made.
