The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the application of emergency use authorization (EUA) of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for children aged 5-11.

This was confirmed by FDA Director-General Eric Domingo during the Laging Handa press briefing on Thursday.

Domingo said that the experts have seen the effectiveness of the US-made vaccine for the pediatric sector and so far, only reported mild adverse reactions.

So, this is being granted today," Domingo said.

However, the FDA official said the COVID-19 vaccine dosage for children will be different from adults.

Meanwhile, a EUA has also been issued on the CoVid-19 drug Molnupiravir, particularly the brand Molnarz, which can be used to mild and moderate cases of CoVid-19 in ages 18 and above.
