MANILA - The Member of the European Commission for Budget and Administration, Johannes Hahn, will visit Manila on 12 and 13 of September 2024. This was announced by the Delegation of the European Union (EU) to the Philippines.
According to the EU, this is Hahn’s first visit to Manila and is expected to meet finance and budget officials from the Philippine government, as well as “finance interlocutors” during his stay in the country.
“He is meeting with Philippine budget and finance interlocutors from the country including Finance Secretary Ralph Recto,” EU confirmed.
The EU also said that Hahn will take the opportunity to promote investment in EU-bonds as a “safe asset” and the euro (EUR) as a “stable global currency.”
In only a couple of years, the EU has become one of the largest issuers in euro; it issues about €150 billion per year, the statement read.
Meanwhile, the EU mentioned that the Commission has a diversified investor base of around 1,700 different investors from 70 countries and that interest from investors outside Europe is growing.
